US Open Junior Tennis Racket Description

Featuring different sizes depending on age, size, and skill level, the US Open Jr is an excellent option for any young junior player looking to get into the sport. Behind the heritage and support of the USTA, these rackets are used at many junior events. Lightweight frame with a high level of playability.

Pros

  • Very cheap compared to other kid tennis rackets (some over $100. At a price of close to $40, it’s an excellent choice.
  • Good for a beginner, as it’s light and not taxing too much on poor technique.

Cons

  • Poor choice for an intermediate / advanced junior tennis player
  • Feels pretty flimsy in the hand.

We bought the racket when our kid was 5 years old, it was her second racket bought since she started training.

The price range got our attention, as money was scarce, but, unfortunately, in this case you do get what you pay for. It was a great choice for a few months until the child reached an advanced level and we turned to another racket (unfortunately discontinued): Prince Warrior Elite Junior 23.

The next racquet cost $70, which was more than double the US Open Junior Tennis racket’s price, but well worth it for an advanced player.

Anyway, if your kid is just starting out tennis, you are not looking (yet) for high-performance, but a decent light and inexpensive racquet, then the US Open Junior Tennis Racket is an exceptional choice.

Is the Wilson US Open a good racket?

The Wilson US Open racket is a high-quality, professional-grade tennis racket that is used by many top players both from the ATP and WTA tennis circuits. It is known for its excellent power, control, and stability, which makes it a great option for advanced players who are looking for a racket that can help them perform at their best.

What size tennis racket should a 10 year old boy use?

The right tennis racquet size for a 10-year-old is 25 inches. Advanced tennis players might find a 26″ long tennis racket to be better. A good rule of thumb for determining the appropriate size tennis racket for a child is to have them hold the racket out in front of them with the handle resting on their palm. The tip of the racket should reach the child’s waist. So, in theory, for a 10 year old boy, you’ll choose between 25 or 26 inches long rackets. What you need to take into account is the weight of the racket, as this can put a bigger strain on their wrists.
